What issue?

For many of us, the .2xx builds are the only ones that actually work. It's .3xx that is unstable.

Yes you are correct I don't understand why they just don't fix all the bugs and release one master update most people are clueless on firmware and Asus makes it a little confusing. Also why do they list things like password strength checker they have had that as far back as 260 firmware.

I'm going to download this now and try it. For some reason today Netflix won't play in HD. Might be getting ready to sell this router with all this firmware issues.

I assume the primary reason they released this firmware is so both .270 branch and .370 branch have a patched Aicloud.

I also assume they are letting us know that they realize that the .370 branch wireless 5Ghz doesn't work too well for many of us and they are keeping the .270 branch updated so we don't get left behind for bug fixes.

Merlin .372.31 seems to work pretty well so I don't think I will bother with this update at the moment.

I haven't had any problem with Netflix HD with any of the firmware on this router.

Same here I see no reason to bother with this release when 372.31 works the best out of all I have tried.

I'm holding out until November myself. If my Xbox One has no issues, I'll keep it. If it even has a FRAGMENT of a problem, I'm done with this thing.

There are many reasons you could have that would cause streaming hd problems other then the router. Could be a isp issue or maybe even the server your accessing from Netflix. I have owned a lot of n900 routers and I have to say the N66U has the best wireless signal and performs the best. Guess im just lucky I don't know.

I'm so frustrated with this routers firmware. I really love this router and want to keep it but the firmware releases are pushing me towards getting rid of it.

Did you try netflix today? It has always been smooth for me. I was running Merlins .372_31 and it was fine for about 2 weeks and today just started acting up on both bands. Gonna call Netflix support tomorrow cause I really think it was on their end that was causing the issues.

If you love the router why don't you try Tomato USB Shibby f/w ?
I have miy N66U running Tomato USB Shibby f/w .109 now for several months without any problems......

I hear you. But is the grass greener on the other side?
Came from Netgear WNDR3700 with lame vendor firmware support and no real alternatives. DD-WRT always had issues as the vendor couldnt be bothered to provide any assistance.
With this router we are relatively spoiled.
Original FW, 2 branches. Merlins excellent biulds. Shibby...
I wish for a perfect router and FW, but reality for me is this is properly as good as it gets for the budget and I am content. :)

Thank you Mike. But I'm not a big fan of 3rd party firmware. I tried DD-WRT on a few other routers and was not happy with the performance.

Yeah that's why I am sticking with the RT-N66U for now. My cousin bought the Netgear R6300 and it is a beast with the latest firmware release from Netgear. Though I am not a Netgear fan at all.

The RT-N66U is sofar quite robust for me (with build 270), most important: it offers my family carefree Internet access without looking after the router or frequent resets.
I came from Linksys over many years, they lost many users since their forced introduction of "Smart Wifi" or "Cisco Cloud Connect". Also their sleek design pizza box routers with build-in miniature antennas do not perform as good as Asus.
Asus has to be carefull though, their fuzzy firmware release policy doesn't do much good.

i moved from a netgear dgnd 3700v2 to the saua rt-n66u and the asus has much better wireless range, the netgear was ok but not as good as the asus, my netgear had a problem with throughput on wired lan connections, thats why i changed

I wouldn't use a Netgear router if you gave it to me free. I'm just not a Netgear fan.
