Hello,

has anybody tested Nexenta?

I found some older pots about Nexenta here in the board, but
it seems that nobody has collected real experience or at least didn't share them

Nexenta combines the OpenSolaris kernel with the Ubuntu userland.
#

The OpenSolaris distribution with the most number of packages (>13000)
#

It's a powerful, versatile server system based on ZFS.

Roamer,

I tried both, NexentaStor and NexentaCore and liked them.

NexentaStor is good to manage for a non L*x system and free up to 1 TB storage. It has a good webinterface and cli.
The free size limit was the reason why I didnt use it further because its too expensive for my usage. If it fits below 1TB for you and you have enough CPU/Memory power then Its something to recommend.

NexentaCore is OpenSolaris with the APT (Debian) package system. I've run it for some time and will keep it on a testsystem for further testing cause its smaller than a standard OSOL.

Then there is Andre's EON which is also something to keep a eye on it.
