I'm sending my GT back... Too much.. "weirdness".

Any suggestions for the next router?

, ASUS 3100 maybe?

Something merlin supports preferred.

Very sorry to hear that. Anything special that we might learn from you?

I've no experience but I've been considering the Asus AC86U (AC2900) for my next purchase. (If that one makes you grumpy too then it'd save me some money : -)

You'll have to elaborate on your specific needs, because chosing a router has to be based on these.

If you're looking for something robust and powerful that Merlin supports I'd say RT-AC5300.

You can likely get much better QoS implementation out of that with Merlin firmware and FreshJRs QoS script than you'd get out of the GT-AC5300.

Had the RT-AC5300 and after a period it causing some issues with dropping the WIFI. It was the CPU that was MAX out. Then I bought the GT RT-AC5300 and have had that for 1 month now and it's awesome. Max CPU has been 10% and the "old" RT-AC5300 is now working as a AP, and it love it :)
