Not getting 1300mbps connection between RT-AC68U and PCE-AC68.

New Around Here
Hello everyone! Long time lurker on these boards, decided to make an account the other day when I purchased the RT-AC68U.

Anyone have any suggestions on why I am not achieving 1300mpbs? Best I am getting is 700-877.

I have the latest firmware from Asus and also tried the latest Merlin release, followed by factory reset. I've changed the channels to 153+, 80mhz, and tried a few different wireless advanced settings as suggested by some people on the forum, mainly consisting of disabling beamforming. I am in a 1800 single story home, router is down the hallway in living room. No nearby neighbors are running 5GHZ. The PCI card also has latest drivers from Asus (2.0.8.4).

I had an Apple Time Capsule previously and was also capping at the same speeds. Perhaps I have a bad PCI card?

I found running the lower frequencies on the 5GHz band gave me better performance.

You can also try placing the router higher and/or repositioning the antenna in a 'w' pattern. Pay attention to the aiming of the 'flat' side of the antenna (you want that towards your PCI equipped system and experiment with placing the antenna differently on the desktop too. Even try turning the desktop around as a test).

Do you have the settings correct on the PCI card? If they seem correct: try removing the driver completely and re-installing with default settings.

Also; 'forgetting' the connection to the PCI equipped desktop and re-associating with the router may fix some anomalies.

As a final test; move the computer to the same room as the router. Does it connect any faster?

If after trying all the above their is no improvement, you may indeed have a defective unit.

Hey L&LD, what settings are you referring to on the PCI card? I've toggled all of them both on and off, which is beamforming, mitigation, and Turbo QAM.

I've adjusted the antennas in various angles, deleted the network and set up as well. Moving the PC closer to the router will be a small chore, but I will definitely try it.

I'm not sure of the settings to try: I don't have this card (which model do you actually have)?

I have the same issue, no matter how close I have the router and adapter or what settings I change. In my case, I've pretty much written it off as interference from neighboring networks keeping me from reaching ideal throughput. That said, I've seen some people say that the PCE-AC68 doesn't perform as well as the 66 does (I think even the reviews on this site are still using the AC66 for their benchmarks because of this). On the other hand, I've also seen posts where people are using this combination with full speeds so... in theory the hardware and software is capable of achieving them in the right environment. Out of curiosity, what OS are you using?
