Apologies for resurrecting an older thread.
I too had noticed issues regarding NAT loopback traffic being recorded as IP traffic and can confirm the suggested iptables changes above do correct the issue (my version of Tomato references wan_ifname as opposed to wan0).
One problem I have come across is the the delete instruction refuses to match the rule already on the router, and in fact I can create the rule and then attempt to delete it with the same instruction and it still won't match. Any ideas why? I can delete by line number but would prefer not to incase the row number should ever not be 1.
