Hopefully this is the right place to discuss this:

I have a RT-N66U Router running 3.0.0.4.376_1071 firmware.
Never installed anything different than stock (thus far).

The problem I have...

Every time the router reboots and periodically without a reboot - I loose the time.

I have read numerous responses regarding different NTP servers and also the issue with DNS and potentially using a straight IP rather than a DNS name.

Right now I have a straight IP in the NTP time server address.

When I click "Apply" on that page, the time syncs and everything is good - so it works.

But if I reboot - I loose the time again and have to manually click "Apply"

If I change to an alternative - like 0.us.pool.ntp.org its the same thing.

My problem is parental controls fail to work right when time is not sync'd

How can I fix this?

I haven't used the N66U in years but when I did I would use the following NTP servers and still do to this day:

time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov

&

time.nist.gov

The first is the atomic clock ntp server in Boulder, CO. As for the other I am assuming it is based in DC or wherever the Nat'l Institute on Standards and Technology put it.

Hope this helps!

There's a thread around here somewhere discussing an almost identical problem and I believe it was on an RT-N66. I can't find it now. It was active sometime within the last year, and don't know if it was resolved.

Search, search, search...

Sorry I couldn't offer anything more...
