Hi. My current setup is a RT-AC68U running Merlin 376.49_5.

My router had been running fine for a few months now but in the last few weeks, a very strange port forwarding problem has cropped up. Every 24 hours or so, all website requests are pointed back towards the router login page. After some checking, it appears that a new rule appears in the "System Log : Port Forwarding" tab:

Destination Proto. Port range Redirect to Local port Chain
!192.168.1.0 TCP 80 192.168.1.1 18017 PREROUTING
ALL TCP 43625 192.168.1.107 43625 VUPNP
ALL UDP 43625 192.168.1.107 43625 VUPNP

If I change almost anything in the router and then apply the settings (or reboot the router), the weird port forwarding issue goes away for awhile. But then it will eventually occur again.

Has anyone seen this problem before? What could be causing it? Could it be related to the UPNP triggers (for a torrent client)?

Would updating to Merlin 378.51_0 help? I've been putting that off since it requires an NVRAM backup/restore.

Thanks!

Edit: Whoops. I meant to post this in the Merlin sub-forum. I can't find a way to delete so maybe if a mod can move if needed. Sorry!

Can you disable UPnP?
Maybe some torrent client went crazy?

You do not really need UPnP/port-forwarding for torrents. It mostly (only?) affects uploads.

Maybe restore the "Factory default" settings?

I just disabled UPnP so let's see if that affects the problem or not.

Why is that port forward rule marked "PREROUTING"? Where is that triggered or controlled?

Thanks.

Go to the WAN page and set 'Redirect to error page' to Never.....if you have a temporary drop in your internet connection, this can get triggered and 'get stuck' even after the connection is restored.

That option doesn't appear in WAN but I found "Enable WAN down browser redirect notice" in "Administration > System" so I set it to "No" and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the tip!

Sorry, I forgot Merlin moved it. You got it....
