[SOLVED] OpenVPN Access Server

Hello,

I have an OpenVPN access server VM sitting behind an Asus RT-N66U router. When I use the Asus firmware, everything works fine. However, when I flash the latest Merlin build - (.374.41), I notice long timeouts when connecting (connection attempt takes over 1 minute on Mobile, about 1/2 that on Win7). Also my external monitors register a down event (due to PORT not Responding).

The OpenVPN access server is 2.0.7.

Oddly enough - on the router's config pages, the first OpenVPN server shows as running even though I never enabled it (and confirmed in the configuration page that it's disabled).

I reverted right back to stock firmware this morning, and connections occur almost instantly.

Let me know if I need to include more info to help dx this.

Thanks

Asus handles the OpenVPN server settings a bit differently from me. From what I remember, they enable the server by default, but they only turn it on if you set the VPN type to OpenVPN instead of PPTP. So when you switch to my firmware, that setting that's already enabled is the only setting I use for controlling the server (since I allow both PPTP and OpenVPN to run at the same time), which is why coming from the stock firmware will have the OpenVPN server enabled by default. Just stop it on the OpenVPN server page, and you'll be fine.

Thanks Merlin!

I reflashed your build - and enabled and disabled the OpenVpn server. VPN connections are near instantaneous again.

Good thing too - was really starting to rely on some of the niceties / extras of your build.

:D:D
