OpenVPN can't route to LAN

Hi,
New to the forum.

Recently got a RT-68U via the Tmoible ASUS TM-AC1900 deal, successfully flashed CFE and installed the latest Merlin build on it 380.63_2

Everything is running fine. Except for OpenVPN. I pretty much have the factory default except for turning on and forcing username/password authentication . Two observations

1) If i am already on WIFI, iphone OpenVPN times out trying to connect. I guess this could be by design?
2) If i go to LTE on my phone, i can connect via OpenVPN. But i can't access anything on my LAN other than 192.168.1.1 (the router ) .

Given i am using the default settings , am i doing something stupid here? (My VPN advanced setting is attached) . My routing table per the system log menu shows the following rows (among others) :

10.8.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 tun21
192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 LAN

I found an earlier thread http://www.snbforums.com/threads/solved-cannot-see-my-lan-with-openvpn.29104/ that seems similar , but i don't really have another VPN client as in his case . Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the help. I figured out that i could access the server LAN over VPN , but it seems to be only for certain protocol?

For example, I can use a RDS client on my iphone to RDS into a window 7 machine on 192.168.xx.xxx address , but the reason i initially thought i couldn't access the LAN is i can't access my security camera on another 192.168.yyy.yyy address over port 80 (browser or via the associated EaglesEyes app) .

So is the VPN tunnel only allowing certain protocol ? How do i access my security camera over port 80 which seems to be blocked for whatever reason

You should be able to access your camera once you are connected to the VPN server via a browser from whatever device you connected with.
Example connect to your VPN server with your phone, open up any browser and type in the address of your camera, that should work.

You also said you can connect via Remote desktop, all you need to do at that point is open up a browser and connect to your camera. That should work as well.
 
mystery resolved. I did a factory reset on security camera a while back for other reasons, somehow that set the default gateway to 192.168.1.254 instead of the correct value of 192.168.1.1. Now i can access the security camera over VPN as desired . Thanks for all the help.
 
Hi @wei !! Can you explain how you got local network access from client working?
I didn't manage to find out myself, yet:(

Do you have the Push Lan to Client option set to Yes, under the Advanced Settings?

I have had it enabled at first but it didn't work anyway. I reflashed the router and tried it once again and it worked!
