OpenVPN configuration help

Hello, I need help on configuring OpenVPN.
I have currently configured it using default settings, and it works well with my Android phone.
Now I have bought an air conditioning system by Daikin, which can be controlled using WiFi.
The android app does a broadcast lookup when it starts, to find all daikin uints:

255.255.255.255:30050 UDP
DAIKIN_UDP/common/basic_info

The app works well in my internal network, but it can't find anything when connected through VPN.
Any suggestion?

I'm facing the same problem using L2TP/IPSec. Have you solved it?

According to this link : https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/764441-pass-broadcast-traffic-over-a-vpn you need a GRE tunnel. I have no idea if you can do that on a Merlin firmware or not.

But could you not give the unit a fixed IP address (even if that's done through manually assigned in DHCP) and access it that way. At least you will know the IP address that way?
