Oh man, with the last firmware update my DLNA and Transmission just killed the performance of the RT-N65U router.

I had two USB devices: a 750GB NTFS drive for the data, and a small 15GB EXT3 drive that held the DLNA database and Transmission configuration.

It took me a couple of days to work out that putting the DNLA and transmission on that small drive just wasn't working out like it use to. I eventually yanked the small drive and put everything back on to the NTFS drive and life has been good.

I'm contemplating getting a larger drive just to hold my movies and TV recordings, but I can't remember if there was a size limit on the drive that the router can handle.

So... is there a size limit on a drive that the router can handle? 1, 2TB?

Can someone who using padavan fw with 3G usb modem help me?
I flashed it to rt-n65u configured 3G modem and saved, but it couldnt connect to net.

I'm pretty sure the limit is 2TB from what I can remember reading in the manual. I'm not sure if that's a hardware limit or firmware restriction.

xnor made it earlier this month I believe... at the tail end of 71.

I'm still back on 56 or so (can't remember off the top of my head) because it was much more stable than the 60 series. Anyone going from the 50 series to 70 series experience any loss in signal strength or connection issues with mobile devices?

I fear we will never find a firmware for the N56U that is stable for gaming consoles (stock firmware unable to hold connection worth a damn), mobile devices (unable to connect or see wifi network), wifi (poor range on 5Ghz), wired (slower speeds than wifi on some fw!), AND usb devices (instability and incompatibility).

I was having the same thoughts as far as gaming consoles until the recent builds. I find 72 to be pretty darn good, though I'd like to have QoS working to give it that extra edge.

I've never used a custom fw but lately I've been reading a bit about it.

I have an asus rt-n56u and I'd like to have an external drive connected to it via USB to where I'd download directly torrents. Plus, I'd like to have the torrents download to start automatically once they come out via a smart feed.

Then I'd like to access those files on other computers (both mac and windows) as well as with the two smart tvs in the house.

Would that be possible with Padavan?

Needs to be compatible with:
3 iPhone 5
1 MacBook Air 2013
2 Windows laptops
2 Samsung smart tv

Thanks!

I just don't have any Apple stuff, but otherwise I have the same setup with Pavadan's latest firmware on the RT-N65U and do what you want without any issues.

About the torrents, you still need to either post the magnet links or upload the torrent file to Transmission. The magnet links need to be entered via the web interface. Actual torrent files need to be copied to the /transmission/watch directory, or uploaded via the web interface.

Hi guys,

I am trying to get Xnor's shaper to work but not having much luck. I've uploaded it to my RT-n56U via FTP but when I run the command "./simple_shaper.sh on" but I get the error 'Cannot find device "eth2.2'. I've tried this with ppp0 instead but no luck. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? :eek:

Thanks

did you first run "./simple_shaper.sh off" and then "./simple_shaper.sh on" ?

"For QoS to work you have to disable Advanced Settings - WAN - Hardware offload NAT/Routing IPv4 in the Router configuration!"

I'm not sure if that helps.

example:
Code:
ping google.com

Z

I've managed to set it up and it's working I believe, as I am noticing a big difference in my ping results when uploading when it's turned on.

I'm looking to set the following values:

UP_C10=$UPMIN
UP_C11=$UPMIN
UP_C12=$UPMIN

I assume these correspond to the following:

1) Time critical / high-priority interactive traffic
2) Games / interactive traffic
3) Default (lowest priority)

Is this right? If so, do I need to change the values to numerical ones?

I'm basically looking to optimise my settings for gaming - how would I go about this?

Thanks. :p

I stopped using xnor's firmware, youtube autos to 144p every single video and won't change quality as it has already buffered 144p for the whole video too quickly.

Hi, can anyone with the latest padavan + n65u + a usb 3.0 hdd post the write/read ntfs ftp and smb speeds?

This is what i get on a n56u:

filezilla ftp write : ~18.5MB/sec
filezilla ftp read : ~26.5MB/sec

smb write : ~14.5MB/sec
smb read : ~27MB/sec

Can the n65u do better?

your speeds are ok, you cant get more speed from "router"

EDIT:
How can I use aria download manager? I created new folder "aria" on hdd, then started it via web. Then tried to access it via web ui 192.168.1.1:6800 - popped login windows, I logged in, but no web ui is shown, nothing... Is there web ui?
Log say "emergency shutdown"
