I posted this in the other thread, but being that I'm actually using Merlin build I should probably have posted it here. With it not being 2 in the morning, this should be a bit more detailed.

Router: RT-AC66R
Firmware: Merlin 29
Partition: NTFS
Issue 1:
I can't delete some files/folders due to permission issues. The recycle bin always deletes itself because of windows/network drives. This time, it won't delete itself prompting a popup every few seconds:

Folder Access Denied
You need permission to perform this action
You require permission from
S-1-5-21-1745800667-482419106-113029816-1000 to make changes to this folder
$RECYCLE.BIN...or whatever file/folder is affected.

I have tried deleting this with a direction connection, but it keeps reappearing. I cannot obtain ownership:
The program cannot open the require dialog box because it cannot determine whether the computer named "RT-AC66R" is joined to a domain. Close this message, and try again.

Upon closing:
Unable to display the user selection dialog. A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred.

I cannot change the filesystem as it is a 4TB Raid and I do not have a backup in which to store all the files...not to mention, a few hundred thousand files at 16k each takes a very long time to copy.

Do I dismount correctly? Yes. There may be an issue with dismounting with the firmware...but I wouldn't know

Issue 2:
Drive is a usb3 drive, has a normal transfer rate of 25 MBps connected to my computer's usb2 port. Connected to wireless N, it slows to 7 MBps read 9 MBps write (assuming a N speed limit issue...no G devices). LAN connection instead of N gives me 8 MBps and 12 MBps. Connected to the G side, it goes down to 1.254 and 0.748. Am I stuck with this? I saw the newest release will have usb 3.0 which I may end up investing in.

I would appreciate any help you guys could give me...especially on the permission issue. I can live with slow transfer for now.

You can't manage permissions or ownership from the share - you have to connect the disk back to your PC to manage permissions. Also double-check sharing permissions under USB -> Servers -> Network Place (Samba).

Max speed that can be achieved on this router is around 15 MB/s. Expect about 25 MB/s to 30 MB/s on the new router (I only did some quick basic benchtests so far, still busy working on the FW itself).

Thanks for the reply. I realized that I may very well be having an issue with some overhead (using a drobo) and a 9MBps actually seems realistic. I'm also limited on 270 on the speed, not 300. 270 and other devices probably result in that final speed, wonder what the new router and an AC connection would be like.

As far as permissions go, I connected to windows directly via usb to delete things and check the permissions there...they're all right, After snooping around enough, I discovered that the recycle bin is deleted still from my last usb connection and delete. It's as if the router thinks it is still there. It's not hidden. I ran checkdisk on windows and am running it again on OSX through paragon's software as it sometimes works much better. It did find some errors and I'll see what things look like. I just wish I knew what keeps causing these folders requiring permission. Under the router, I've tried checking permissions there and everything looks ok. I'm taking the family out to dinner and I'll check back after that.

Also note that 4 TB isn't fully supported by the router - you might need to use ext3 instead of NTFS. My 3 TB test HDD here would fail to mount when using NTFS>

That's one thing I was worried about after the fact. Technically, my drive is 15.9TB in size with drobo's formatting, but up until I replaced one of the drives to expand it, it went from 2.5TB usable to 4.5TB usable space. It reports in windows and via the share as 15.9TB.

The second thing I was really worried about is the file size limit of 8GB. Turns out that it is not an issue as I can create backup images on the drive of approximately 250GB in size with no problems.

I suspect I'm having a dismount issue with the drive...or it just has been some bad file issues. Since the double run of checkdisk, it's been running fine. I just need to see how it goes now.
