New Around Here
Hello
I'm a new user of AsuswrtMerlin - version 354.beta1, on a RT-N66U.
I had it up for more than a week and one of the things I used check was the total traffic going through. Today I tried to enable SSHD and I kept getting an odd error "This port had been used for an HTTP LAN port", and decided to reboot. I have not been able to to enable ssh, and also noticed that my traffic information (how many GB I transferred back and forth since I had turned it on) disappeared. I assume that logs as well.

note: I have a usb memory stick connected to the router, and recognized by the firmware

What shall I do to make my traffic information persistent between rebootsÉ
Thank you,
hg

Assuming that your USB stick on the router is recognised and working.

goto http://192.168.1.1/Tools_OtherSettings.asp

Set the traffic history location to 'Custom Location'

Set the save frequency, mines set to 1 hour.

Then point the log location to your USB device ( I made a logs folder on mine before mounting it ) , mines /mnt/sda1/logs/

Then the logs are saved between re-boots.

You also need to select both "Create or reset data file" options (or at least the first one if you decide not to use Per IP monitoring).

Thank you to both of you.
I found the place under Tools. I tried to use the add folder function, but it doesn't create a folder. Tried to just input the name (log), or, using the suggested structure by linkmaster I've also entered it as /mnt/sda1/log. Not successful. I may have to shutdown the router remove the usb and create the folder and then just select it. Kind of awkward, but I'll do that.

Included in my post was sort of hidden another question regarding enabling ssh.
that still doesn't work (in the adminstrative menu) - any idea what is going on?

Thanks again for your help!

The path must end with a trailing "/".

Folder creation was fixed in 354.28 Beta.

Known issue with build 354, also fixed with 354.28 Beta.

I strongly recommend keeping track of the changelog and beta-related discussions when running beta versions. Beta versions WILL have issues, and they will be documented in the beta thread. Otherwise it might be better for you to stick with a non-beta version.
