That might be the reason. You said your card was a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN. According to this (http://www.intel.co.uk/content/dam/...ments/product-briefs/wifi-link-5100-brief.pdf) the best that card can do is "n" not "ac". In which case the information from inSSIDer might be wrong (the card might not understand the information the router is giving out).Can it be my laptop not supporting AC? actually it's quite old...
What should the speed be for wifi N on 5Ghz?
Changing Channel bandwidth to 40MHz should give you a "Max Rate" of 300Mbps.
