OK I have a weird situation here. My router out of no where lost connection. And all lights were working. So I hit the power button weight like 2 min turn it back on. We'll the power light comes on and then the Wan comes on like it wants to communicate with the modem flash a couples times then turns off. About a min or two later the light comes on again flashes and shuts off. So I did a factory rest and also cleared nvram and re flashed the firmware thru recovery page. When it boots back up it does the same process. Does anybody have any idea what could have caused this and any way to fix? Rt-ac3100

After a HW Reset disconnect all devices (WAN + LAN ports) and power cycle it, then check if it does the exact same thing or if you are able to access WEBUI, i've seen similar situations like that due to networking bad configurations like several DHCP servers running, that way you will know if the router works fine on a isolated state, otherwise the only way is a RMA.

I haven't tried it with all the cables unplugged but I did connect my laptop directly to the cable modem and it pulled a ip right away. An what does RMA stand for?

That was expected, you should do the test before send it to warranty / RMA.

You could return the new one to Amazon and keep the not dead one.
