Hello everyone,

Is it possible to connect 2 Asus Zenwifi's directly with internet cable to the router of the ISP instead of 1 Asus to the router and the 2nd Asus to the 1st Asus?

So basically 2 Asus Zenwifi’s (XD5, XT9 or BD4) wired to the ISP router as AP’s and to turn off the wifi on the ISP router. It is possible on TP Link Deco’s and I was assuming it would work on Zenwifi’s too because they have way more configuration settings than a Deco.

Will seamless roaming still work in that way?

Sure. But you can spend less with just access points and not pay for features you cannot use because setting a router in AP mode neuters it.

Any suggestions?

I am thinking of a XT9, XD5 or BD4 but it depends if I will need mesh / tri band.

I have a 5G router which gives the best signal close to the window in the bedroom where I get 800/150 speeds. From there I can’t get cables to the living room so the best option would be a wireless backhaul. If I put the router where the fuse box is I can connect everything with internet cables but the speed will probably be less. Then 2 dual band routers would be the solution but I want them to have seamless roaming and 1 SSID.

Also, if I use the second solution I have everything plug & play when I have fiber optic available to purchase.
