I thought somebody maybe interested in seeing network pictures to get ideas for their own network. Here's a picture of mine with equipment.

my network is currently a mess after switching from ADSL to Cable.

i originally was using an e2000 as my main switch, but pulled it from my ADSL config when it's power brick died. Having inter-area network accessibility is convenient when you are messing with your router... I've since cut it a new one in time for my switch to cable.

I'll have to grab a picture of mine. Its not exactly tiddy. Kjacques1, I can't help looking at that picture and thinking "but where are all of the network cables?"

Of course this comes from a man who I think now has about 26 of the 32 ports on my two 16-port switches populated and a couple of spare cables not connected (because the LAN drop only has one of the three wires currently connected and in use).

I should say that this rack is in my home office underneath my desk and not in a network closet. The network cables go from the switch underneath to the back of the rack and out to the various computers, phones, etc in the office. For the rest of the house I am using moca adapters (WNDR 3700 is connected to one of the adapters to provide wifi).

This is a little out-of-date as it was taken when the new cabinets were set up, but it gives you a general idea of what's in my spare dining room. I'll post better pictures sometime in the near future.

Nope, just stuff I use at home. There isn't much Cisco stuff in there - just the 2851 (now a 3845) and a Catalyst 4848-10GE.

What's the secret for pictures? There does not seem to be an option to post a picture only a URL. I don't run a web server any more since I retired.

Thanks! I make all of my RJ45 cables to length. I used to do that with fiber as well, but these days I can buy a complete 2M LC/LC jumper for less than I pay for one connector, so it isn't worth it for the fiber. I also cut the IEC power cords to length (devices with a permanently-attached power cord don't get cut down).

You probably can't see it clearly in the pictures, but each cable has a self-laminating label saying what each end goes to.

Here is mine. It is old like me but works fine for retirement. It has my new used Cisco layer 3 switch. My other router is out right now. As you can tell I am in the process of upgrading a Cisco WAP321. I can close the closet folding doors. It is just all open now.
There are holes in the servers where DVD drives previously lived. I now just use a USB DVD player for all the servers. I can boot off of it so I don't need separate DVD drives anymore.

Verizon FIOS as a primary internet, 5 static IP addresses. Passes through the switch first then back out to the routers.

Apple Mac mini server.

Nice and neat. I like color coding cables for different purposes. I only now use black for outside the firewall or unprotected data. The rest is my ATHome setup with what ever I have. If I added security cameras I would probably use a different color cable for cameras.
