PPPoE RT68U

This might be a bit of a noob quest but here goes.

Got an Ethernet incoming from by ISP, I setup the device as PPPoe but it does not tell me what port to connect.

Running 3.0.0.4.384_81981 on the router.

Advice appreciated.

The WAN port is not ethernet, this looks like a DSL connection

You didn't mention which router you have!
RT68U is nothing but misleading. You wrote you have a router and so probably the RT-AC68U and this one definitely has a WAN ethernet port.
If you got a DSL modemrouter like DSL-AC68U then you have to specifiy which LAN port 1-4 is used as WAN. And there is a repeater RP-AC68U as well ...

And your link doesn't show which firmware you got as it links to a local page within your intranet (192.168.0.254).

Apologies, Its a DSL-AC68U. I see nothing on the setup pages to define a port for PPPoe. The only thing I see to ports is Dual-WAN which is Off

I will user this device somewhere else now, Ordered an RT-68U now.

Thanks for the patience.

No need, you can use it as router, I think it has been on this page with dual WAN where you can choose which LAN port is used as WAN, usually you will use LAN1.

Load GNUton's firmware for DSL-AC68U, then you have much more options and features, its based on Merlin firmware.
Maybe it is only with his firmware, cant remember if stock may be used as well.

Should work with stock too, here FAQ from Asus 'How to setup Ethernet WAN mode in DSL-AC68U/R': https://www.asus.com/US/support/FAQ/1016292

I was looking to go with Merlin anyway ,ordered the wrong one, but now its set to replace my partners old dsl router.

It will do it same as RT version if you keep it, you only have to use GNUtons fork of Merlin for DSL model and miss one LAN-port.
But since you could reuse it better to go with an newer model like RT-AX58U which got Merlin in last version.
