Preferred USB storage brand for Asus router use?

It's 2021... so Happy New Year.. and, well.. the USB stick I had in my router (Kogan Ultra 32GB) crapped itself.
Filesystem pretty much hosed, and with dmesg errors during attempted mount, reformat, and dd.

What USB sticks currently available are folks using for their routers with amtm installed plugins etc.?

Not router-specific, but of all the brands I have used over the past few years, Patriot has definitely been the most reliable one for me.
 
The ones worth considering are the Elite series (Patriot), 128GB and above. I'm using the 512GB version which is effectively as fast as a T5 500GB external SSD I used to use.
 
Hrrmm.. seems local retailers aren't a fan, but found their Amazon store.. are there any recommendations when it comes to using USB flash storage with an Asus router besides the brand?
I see the mount options include noatime automatically - anything else to be mindful of?
ext4 still recommended?
 
See the amtm Step-By-Step Guide in the link below (but just skip where it says to 'install' amtm, it is part of the firmware since RMerlin 384.15_0).

Hrrmm.. that guide suggests NTFS for USB storage? Seems unusual for an embeddded linux device..

Edit: oooooh.. then wipe it again with a linux FS
 
Specifically, use amtm to format it properly as the router/scripts will be expecting it to be. ;)
 
I'm using an attached SSD in a drive enclosure from UGREEN (2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure, USB C 3.1 Gen 2 to SATA III 6Gbps). If you decide on going this route, make sure that you get one with an ASMedia chipset since they work the best under Linux. Inside is a Samsung 850 drive that I rescued out of an older dell notebook. I formatted the drive with AMTM and selected the Ext4 file system. It's absolutely rock solid and superfast.
