Problem with 5GHz connection

Senior Member
I am expecting some problems with connection to 5 GHz WiFi.

I am using latest firmware with my RT-AC68U with the settings attached.

Now when I try to connect to 5 GHz using my Galaxy S3 it tries to do it for some time and then displays "authorization error".

Rebooting the router helps - but only for some time.

I've tried to disable regional restrictions some time ago using
Code:
nvram set 0:ccode=#a
nvbram set 1:ccode=#a
nvram set 0:regrev=0
nvram set 1:regrev=0
nvram set wl0_country_code=#a
nvram set wl0_country_rev=0
nvram set wl0_reg_mode=off
nvram set wl1_country_code=#a
nvram set wl1_country_rev=0
nvram set wl1_reg_mode=off
nvram commit
reboot
so possibly this is the reason?

Now I've tried to point control channel manually (as you can see from settings screenshot) - now it looks like working but I need some time to test and confirm.

But anyway - what is the reason of above mentioned problem?

Disabling regional limits will allow you to use more power and more channels than would normally be available in your region. The problem is that most of your client devices still follow the restrictions. I think something like this happened to me before. The explanation I came up with is that the router is broadcasting on an unsupported channel and the client can't connect to it because it isn't allowed by its firmware/drivers to use that channel. If you force your router to the channels that are supported in your region, you should be able to connect as usual.

Also, if you let your router choose the channel (the auto setting), there's a good chance it'll choose an unsupported one because none of your neighbors' networks will be on those channels interfering with the signal.

Yeah, I've made the same assumption, and it seems legit.
But I wonder why router chooses the improper channel - there is no any neighbors here who uses 5 GHz.

You didnt say what firmware you are using and what firmwares you have tried that give you better results.

AC66 and similar setting

On my ac66 with similar settings AND channel control on AUTO channel 155 is the result. My Intel ac7260 sees that en connects fine. My smartphones don't.

Nothing wrong with the Asus or the settings. some smartphones are limited.

I think it is clear I am using Merlin 374.43.2.

No it isnt clear. There are currently 2 latest firmwares from Asus.

And start disabling everything in Pro settings. Look for pics in a gallery under my nick.

I have no idea why we are talking about official firmwares in the branch of Merlin firmwares.
As well as why I should change something in pro settings when it worked before and the real reason was found and confirmed above.

It isn't confirmed as you have to monitor it for an X amount of time. Confirmation is based on a solid facts, thus no further testing or observation is required. Science 101.

How often do people post in the wrong section of the forum?
How often do people post in this section just to get attention and help from Rmerlin?

You did post screen shots. That reason is what exactly? Something cute for us to stare at, or because you asked for help?

Did you know that enabling some settings can cause more harm then good??

Do you want help or do you want to play a game of; "whos the bigger *******"?

If you want genuine help, then learn to listen and provide detailed info so you can get the best solution possible. I'm not a mind reader....are you a.mind reader?

Think about it and let us know.
In the mean time, have your self a good night.

Sorry, man, but I think you need to relax.

You are taking everything too close to heart.

"Latest firmware" means latest - and it is not possible to have two latest firmwares. Asuswrt-Merlin means Asuswrt-Merlin - and it is not clever to think that everybody here are discussing other firmwares and the weather on Mars.
Me and ikoul discussed the matter and found the reason why. And then you appeared like devil from snuffbox and started to talk about assholes and mind readers.

You want me to "let us know" - so it looks like there are several of "us". So my advice for all of "you" is: relax. Go to the sea, find somebody, drink a little. Possibly this will help you to read attentively and be more kind when talking to other people.

And please - don't answer. I have found the solution of my problem and told everything I want to you. So stop this stupid drama.

Folks, please drop the arguing, or take it to private message, otherwise I will get my hammer out and nail a "Closed" sign on this thread. Thank you.
