Hi,

I have a new home office and use an Avaya IP phone. My router is a Linksys E4200 v1. My laptop connects wirelessly but the IP phone is hard wired. My question is regarding QoS. I have a 30 meg down / 3 meg up cable connection. Most often it's just me using the network (phone & laptop) but occasionally my son will be playing xbox 360 online. Would that be enough to saturate my upstream connection and thus require me to enable QoS for the phone?

Thanks,
Mario64

It's not that the xbox will saturate the uplink - VOIP is timing sensitive, so it's fair to prioritize it on the Linksys QoS page.
