R10000G as an AP?

New Around Here
I am considering buying the R10000G from Amped Wireless because of its range. However, I would like to use it as an AP in addition to my existing ADSL router because I have an IP surveillance system where one camera is connected to my current AP (that will be replaced) and the other one to my current router and I want to make sure the cameras can be accessible from the internet and the internal network. Should there be no problems if I disable the DHCP, firewall and what not in the R10000G and possibly connect to the existing router using the LAN port as described in the generic guide on this website? Thanks in advance.

Be mindful that the useful range is usually constrained by the lower transmitter power of the client device- and the received signal strength *at the WiFi router/AP* is not usually displayed.

The best way to improve range is by using antenna gain at the WiFi router/AP because this benefits both transmit and receive directions.
