I started using my R7000 as my router with wifi off. Its OK, but it has some oddness with DHCP reservations and its OpenVPN tends to crash Windows clients (ASUS OpenVPN implementation didn't cause issues on the same desktops).

I believe that all I have to is download [download link removed -rm], reset the router to factory settings, flash the provided chk file, reset again, and then flash the trx file. Then configure and I'm running. Did I get that correct?

No support for Xvortex here. The guy won't even post his changes so be very careful running that code. May very well have back doors watching you.

The Asus router arrived and I set it up. Thing is responsive, handles dhcp properly, and openvpn operation is better. Kind of an expensive fix, but I'm pleased. And I didn't have to misuse Asus firmware per the post above
