You're taking a super simplified example and extrapolating from that. Changing one or two characters in a mnemonic means it's no longer a dictionary word. Again, it's been tested, they really are just as secure, as long as you follow the simple guidelines listed on that page.

The problem with passwords if they have to be typed in is that someone / something can be looking / logging the keystrokes too as they are entered. Fingerprint scanners are much better than any passwords when in a public location, for example.

You are totally right, not only from a security standpoint but from a practical standpoint. Unlocking the iPhone got infinitely more convenient the second it started recognizing my fingerprints.

Well, I guess we do have 9 more. I dunno if people will resort to using their feet after 9 password changes though... haha. The permanence of finger-prints (or faces) is a problem. I doubt biometrics are a universal solution.

One of scary things about biometrics is that cop's and court's can compel you to provide a fingerprint or retina scan without impinging on your rights, same with DNA samples, breathalyzers, etc...

A password, on the other hand, well, that is protected as a constitutional right in many countries, including here in the US...

TouchID get definitely more interesting to the TSA, Public Safety Departments, etc...

I don't enable TouchID on my iPhone5s just for that fact.. not that I have anything to really worry about, but again, I don't let cops search my car without a warrant either...

Well, the external tassel does improve reception, but a properly designed internal tassel can be just as effective
