Charter ISP
Cisco DPC 3000 modem
ASUS RT-A68U
Netgear WNDR3400 set as WAP

I'm currently experiencing random drops in communication between my modem and asus router. Direct modem connection works fine but my router drops signal wirelessly and direct connection. When i unplug the modem power cycle the modem then the connection is restored. I've changed the cable between the router and modem with no change in random drops.
Updated all firmware and been on the phone with ISP a million times!!

Below is the latest log from the asus router when the drop happened. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty much a novice at this but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that's the third case with the same diagnosis this week alone.

Code:
Oct 9 05:58:37 WAN Connection: Ethernet link down.

This indicates that the Ethernet link between the modem and the router physically went down. This usually indicates a problem with the modem rebooting, or the Ethernet cable between modem and router not being reliable (you already changed the cable, but do make sure the new cable is rated Cat 5e or better).
