Hi all
All my stuff is located in the basement, Modem, Router and Switch etc. It was set up on a very high bookshelf but at times had problem looking at the LED light status so I moved the Router approx. 2 feet down so that I have an idea about the status of the router etc but now a new problem I lost signal on my main floor. Before this change I use to get 10 MB/Sec (when checked via Speetest.net) but now I am getting only 2 to 3 MB/sec. Is there any way I can increase the TX power or something to get my proper speed back. FYI, when I sit near to the Router I get my normal speed around 10 MB/S.....Any idea......Please advise.
Thx..

You might try adjusting the antennas to an angle such that the weak zone on the first floor is at right angles to the antennas (broadside).

Yes all the new builds Asus or Merlin have very bad range with the N66 try John's fork and you will see a noticeable improvement. Plus it just works better hands down.

Hi,

On top of the firmware switch you should do a factory reset and manually reconfigure the router with minimum setup (e.g. only Internet Service Provider and WLAN). Test the wireless now and you will see if this helps.

Always do a factory reset after switching or updating firmware, but never restore the settings you have saved via the function "Administration/Save setting" when you switch to new firmware.

You can use the User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility to save and restore your user settings (but it will NOT mess up the background setup from ASUS for the new firmware version)!

With kind regards
Joe
