Hello,

recently I have switched from stock firmware to Merlin 388.2 on my RT-AX58U
It was a clean upgrade with restoring to default values, and everything was put in manually.
Unfortunately, I get a lot of de-authorisations like this on my WiFi 5Ghz AX client:

When it happens, I am unable to reconnect to the router for a few minutes.
What I did try so far:
- connecting to a newly created guest network, but its the same
- switched from 160MHz channel width do 80Mhz
- updated the drivers on my Intel WiFi 6E AX211

At this moment my other AX client is away so I dont have the hardware to test it on.
But testing on a 2,4Ghz N client gives me similar result - a deconnection (client 64:70:02:08:38:9C)

I tried FW_RT_AX58U_300438822237 and FW_RT_AX58U_300438822525 freshly downloaded from asus website.
I am connected to AX58U via a cable to the router (switch side, port 1), the IP is set to static by hand.
Tried different browsers and turning off antivirus.
Tried resorting to defaults before flashing.
Truly I dont know how to proceed.
Would posting the logs be of any help?

Because I was unable to revert to Asus wrt, I went on with a "Factory default" on Merlin 388.2
That did not help.
So I did something that seemed stupid: I have restored settings from a backup file made when was using Asus wrt.
For last four hours of testing the connection is solid, no things like:

I scheduled restart every night and it only decrease the frequencies of this problem (it happens one/twice a week). Device just connect for a few seconds and then is disconnected. Problem is on different devices (usually I use smartphones on 2.4ghz). The only solution is to restart the router. Logs from the situations below:

First, you may need to upgrade your firmware. 388.22525 for most AX router has been upgraded with some fixes.
Second, go back to the default WIFI settings. Use Dual Band Smart Connect with auto channel for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. OK to se the 2.4 GHz to 20 MHz as in most areas it is fruitless to try to force 40 MHz. You may want to use just 80 MHz on the 5 GHz band and no DFS channels.

SItuations like this - best to reset the router and do the settings from scratch - don't restore from a back up file...

Same problem here. Completely fresh installation on RT-AX86U Pro, newest firmware. 2,4ghz clients are disconnected (deauth/unspecified reason). Wifi ax disabled, wpa2/wpa3 enabled. No mesh.

For the AX58U Ver1 you have to download and install 386.45898 first before you update to the latest or it wont work. Both the latest and 386.45898 are on the official firmware website from Asus.

Thats when 47029 was the next version. He can just flash 45898 and then proceed directly to 388.23285 without issue. A full factory reset would probably be a good idea after flashing the latest.

They also bury the older versions now until you expand the tab to see them. Most people don't know to do that and will just never upgrade because it will just continue to fail. Not sure were you live but China hates the US anyway mostly thanks to the moron in the White House here. Biden.

They also created a big mess with V1/V2 versions of the same router. Some with 2-in-1 firmware (like AX58U), some with separate versions (like XT8). If you go out now and buy one you don't know what are you getting before having the box in your hands. Some are Asuswrt-Merlin compatible, some are not.
