I posted on Saturday in the AX forum about connectivity issues with my AX86U. Asus agreed to let me do an RMA even though it is a little outside of the warranty. I ended up getting an AX86U Pro. My question is: Can I RMA the AX86U with third party (Merlin) firmware or do I need to download the Rescue mode to my laptop and remove Merlin? I currently have the Pro running my network from my desktop. I did this once before a couple of years ago and it was a PITA.

Since ASUS and Éric Sauvageau (RMerlin) are collaborating in the development of both firmwares then it is safe to beleave that they will not complains about it been loaded on your router.

Thanks for the reply. It just made my life much easier. There's always a risk with the firmware restoration tool, especially with a faulty router.

I have a large stack of Asus routers that I retired over the years. I've never had one fail.

Thanks again.
