I got a bit of a head scratcher here. I am running Merlin 380.57. I am trying to route my openvpn server traffic (tun21) to my openvpn client (tun12). My goal is to have clients connecting remotely to my VPN server to have all their traffic sent through the router's VPN client.

In the VPN client settings for client 2 (tun12), I got "Redirect Internet traffic" enabled and have tried:

OpenVPN server range
10.8.0.0 0.0.0.0. VPN

External client IP subnet
X.X0.0 0.0.0.0 VPN

However, when I go to say dnsleaktest.com while connected to my OpenVPN server or any site that lists the IP address I still see my ISP address listed.

Any ideas what I could me doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

Are there any pointers in regards to what I could look at to resolve this? I am hoping that I am not the only trying to do this as it seems like a use case others would either use or have interest in using.

I'm trying to do the same! "Head scratcher" definitely... I'm going bald here!

I tried adding the vpn client ip (10.8.0.2) to the selective routing list in the gui... Can still connect to LAN hosts but no external connections work.

dnsleak is a bad way to test thing out - use a site like WhatismyIP instead. The router cannot control what DNS your remote clients are using.
