Router keeps shutting down after one certain pc connects

New Around Here
Hi all,

Im using a ASUS RT-AC66U router since a couple of months now. At start everything was perfect, however at some point that changed.
Im using the latest version of the ASUSwrt-merlin software (378.54_1)
Right now everything is only working when one certain computer is not connected. As soon as that pc is started and connects the whole connection drops out and keeps reconnecting going on and of every 3/5 minutes.

In the log it seems like everytime right before it shuts down it keeps giving this message:

Jun 11 16:34:21 dnsmasq-dhcp[276]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) 192.168.1.157 b4:b6:76:0e:b9:33
Jun 11 16:34:21 dnsmasq-dhcp[276]: Ignoring domain corp.csm.local for DHCP host name BEMSMN30410

I'm not sure if it has something to do with that, but I am however sure that it is the only pc in the house that will ever try to connect to that domain.

I'm not an IT guy or something so I don't have a real clue how to exactly set up the router. Therefore all the settings are currently at default.

Hope someone can help me out!

Gr. Ruben

If your PC has Intel NIC or WiF i card you can run diagnostics from Intel utility you can down load with driver.

Are you saying the router shows a lot of those DHCP requests before it "shuts down"?
Is it a wired or wireless computer and what OS is it running?

If you are running Win7 or 8 try:
- open Network and Sharing Center from the Control Panel.
- click on the ICON for the current active network.
- This should bring up a window to let you change the icon and network name. Click the "Merge or delete network locations" link at the bottom of that window.
- Delete all the "not in use" network locations.

Also, this domain error seem to imply this computer was previously configured within a business Windows Domain. That can be problematic for your local LAN usage as it could have all kind of network policies applied to it.

I think Merlin is more on target than I was. What's the easiest way to get it disassociated from the domain?

First step is to ensure you do have a local account with administrative right, because once you leave the domain, if you were still logged as a domain user then you will locked out of your own computer.

After that, Control Panel -> System. Under Computer Name, Domain and Workgroup Settings there's a "Change Settings". There you check the workgroup type, enter any workgroup if there isn't one already, then apply.

However, I would NOT do that unless you are positively sure you don't have everything configured (that means your apps, favorites, configurations, etc...) as a domain user, or you will lose everything.

That might not also resolve any group policies that might have been applied on the computer while it was on the domain.

Quite frankly, unless someone knows what he's doing, it's probably best to backup everything, and reinstall Windows from scratch to ensure you get rid of any domain configuration.

Thanks for all the reactions!

Well the answer you came up with might indeed be the problem. However I can't configure all because it is indeed my business pc that is causing this.
The acces I have to my business pc is so limited that i can't even get into the control panel. Will have to ask the IT guys for more info then, if they even have a clue about this..

Thanks anyways, I atleast now know what I'm facing.

(Sorry for the deficient english)
