So normally I should be getting a 300/20 speed. At the moment (using a switch) I am only getting 8/20, that is a MASSIVE drop, and I have no idea why.

I am using a Linksys (SE3008) 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch.

Any ideas why it's being like this?

Please give a little better description of how you are connected. Were you previously connected directly to the ISP modem and now your connected to a switch that is connected to the modem?

What is your router?
Can you attach a rough drawing of how things are wired between the ISP demarc and your test computer?

Power cycle the switch - the SE3008 is a "green switch" and it might have toggled one or more of the ports.

(note - I have the same switch on my LAN, generally it works well, but I've had this happen myself)
