RT-AC3200 with router mode not bridge

So i have rt-ac3200 . i have isp that providing me 50down speed. And the modem itself is a router (Linksys dpc3828s i believe) and now i want to use my ac3200 as a router instead of the bridge/ap. Can i do it? Maybe i must set custom wan ip? And set DMZ to the router ip on the isp router? So i can port forward from the ac3200? Thx

What you need to do is set the modem/router to Bridge mode.

That will 'expose' the www to the RT-AC3200 you plug it to.

Using DMZ is doing it wrong if you can do it right (above).

Well the modem/router that came from the ISP. Didnt have option for "bridge" mode. So im stuck to thinking. As it connects and just make static ip for the asus on the modem. Then just dmz that ip. Then on the asus. I enable the router mode and set dhcp on. Then i can just manage port from asus there. Its still gonna work right?

Double nat plus dmz does work - but you are subject to any issues in the isp modem with nat timeouts, helpers etc.

@mstombs ok i get it. So all the modem ports can be accessed from the router. So we can manage port forwading from the wifi? Right? Ok. Now its done. Assign the router static ip. Then dmz the ip from modem. Ok.now the wifi should working right? If we port forwading from router. It should work right? Now. What do you mean by issues in the isp modem with nat timeouts , helpers , etc? So if i connect on the modem/ispwifi im gonna got issue? Well thats no probs cuz i only use wired and wireless from asus. Thx. But is there anything u want me to know? :) thx

Some old ISP modem routers did not have DMZ, then you would have to double port forward. If DMZ works then port forwarding and UPNP on the second router should work. There were lots of optimizations to nat tables in 3rd party router firmwares in old days, hopefully not needed now. You may have trouble with DDNS and some VPN protocols, because your second router does not have the true internet WAN IP address.
Its always better if you can put ISP modem in 'full bridge mode', second best is when ISP modem does 'half-bridge' so double nat is always 3rd choice!
