First do a factory default reset.....then make sure you chase the router gremlins away and try the update.
Then another factory default reset....
Not to be a pessimist, but you may not be out of the woods yet. At least on the N16 (another MIPS base)....there were cases where the new code got on OK, but things like wireless stopped working until we played with the flash partitions. You may want to take a quick browse thru this thread....
