Hello,

New Merlin user. Very happy with this firmware over stock which allowed me to achieve the same download speed that I could achieve when directly connected to Comcast Gigabit modem ~ 950 Mbps. But seriously, how come Merlin allowed this but stock ASUS firmware could not?

Thinking I had some configuration parameter off, I initialized my router with ASUS stock software. Set up admin, wireless configurations. Went to the speed test & got barely 500 Mbps. Installed Merlin and achieved ~950 Mbps.

What does Merlin do or not do that allowed this? I am truly grateful for this firmware because it saved me having to buy a new router.

Thank you!

I can't think of anything I would have done to explain that performance difference, unless you are comparing two very different versions, and the Asus version you are using had broken NAT acceleration.

I was running the latest ASUS stock firmware. Before initializing, I used the "Check latest" feature to make sure I was running the latest. Perhaps there was a more recent firmware version and I was not running the latest?

I believe this was the stock firmware version I was looking at:
Version 3.0.0.4.382.50470

I have this exact same issue going from the 380 architecture build to the 382. It seems to be a problem in the firmware. I have 750Mbit/sec fiber which I utilize in full on the 3.0.0.4.380.8228 firmware build. Upgrading to the latest 3.0.0.4.382.50470 my downloads stalls at 500Mbit/sec. Not only does the download/upload stall but it's also very unstable in the sense of a lot of fluctuations while down- uploading.

Contacted Asus, told me to do a factory default reset and reconfigure it. No dice.
