RT-AC68 - New firmware 3.0.0.4.376_3602 (AVOID)

Exactly what is this, and where did you get it, did you tried it?
I cannot see this version in the assus support site.

I can confirm that this does appear to resolve all the problems. I installed it on both RT-AC68U units, and now the media bridge reports 1170Mbits which is what it was before.

yes, as i mentioned before - i get this from asus support employee. You can always wait for public release.

What about the restart process its still takes too much times, or that is also changed back?

I can confirm that this does appear to resolve all the problems. I installed it on both RT-AC68U units, and now the media bridge reports 1170Mbits which is what it was before.

Do you mean a full reboot? The restart process is shorter than it suggests on screen. I found when it got to about 70% that the router was already back up....

Just because with the previous firmware the process takes less than 1 minute, with this defective firmware the boot time is the double...

I just updated my router and yes, it appears to fix the 5GHz link rate issue. Link rate reported is 866Mbps like it was before.

I did have to manually shutdown and restart the router after the upgrade. I usually do this anyway just as a precaution. The whole startup process takes about 2 - 2 1/2 minutes before the 5GHz radio comes online and I'm able to connect which is neither faster nor slower than before. I personally don't mind the wait as long as the router works as it should but I can understand the frustration if you reboot a lot.

In the future I will be much more careful to update when ASUS posts new fw - I'll probably wait a few days until users have posted here that the fw isn't causing massive problems

All the 378_xxx firmwares are beta, while the 376_3626 is targeting at resolving the specific issues introduced in 3602.

I would go with 3626, unless you want to wait for a few days for an official release.

Some findings:
- First time noticed that Asus added SSH Daemon in addition to Telnet.
- Airtime Fairness is now enabled by default
- wl1_reg_mode=h instead of =off(.376.3602)
