Apologies if this has been asked somewhere. I searched and didn't really find the right answer.
I'm not sure when exactly it started occurring but I really just took note of it maybe a week or so ago. My router is constantly running an arpping command that spikes the CPU to 25% usage about every 5 seconds or so. The CPU graph on my status page looks like a sine wave when traffic and other activity etc. is otherwise quiet.
The command from top is: /usr/sbin/lighttpd-arpping -f br0
I do know a fair bit about networking so if this is an expected behavior of this router, color me embarrassed not to realize so.
At first I thought it was perhaps some kind of watchdog process but I see it's running against interface br0.
Anyone seeing this? Oh I forgot to mention I'm on Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.376.47_0.
Thanks!
