i have below dual wan setup:

  • Primary - DSL broadband on RJ45
  • Secondary - 3G USB Modem
  • i am on latest 4887

i need the dual wan system such that if DSL RJ 45 broadband fails it should switch to 3G USB and when DSL RJ 45 broadband is restored it should fall back to DSL RJ 45..

below is the setup in router:

i have no idea for this setup how the actual network can look like below when it is expected to fall back from one to other.. either it shows both connected or both disconnected..

i get a feeling that in reality there is no proper dual wan implementation in this router.. it does not appear to function as expected..

and what could be this "allow failback" in 4887...

can some one help please..

One thing I noticed with the Asus dual WAN implementation is that fail over would switch to WAN2 but there was no easy way to get the router to return to WAN1 once it came back online.

I'm hopeful this new fail back feature will address this limitation.

Can someone chime in and confirm fail back will allow the router to revert back to WAN1 once it comes back online?

a) DualWan work for me with latest Merlin, but NOT in latest AsusBeta

b) -"revert back" in latest AsusBeta seams to work for the other mate with same modem as me.

try Merlin's latest perhaps

a) do you mean dual wan is working properly in your case ?
b) Does it revert back to primary from secondary when primary restores back ?
