ChefChaudart, thanks for posting this. I just ran into this same issue tonight and rebooted the router many times with no fix. After finding your post, all is well and the router finished updating. You just saved my sanity! Many thanks.

Just got the same problem after doing a firmware upgrade. The problem is that we are connecting to the router through HTTPS (having set the Authentication method to HTTPS in the Administration settings) while the redirected page after the upgrade is HTTP.

I changed the redirected page from http://192.168.1.1/middle_upgrade.htm to https://192.168.1.1:8443/middle_upgrade.htm.

There I was presented with a firmware upgrade progress page:

Code:
Firmware is upgrading. Please wait about 3 minutes.
Do not power off RT-AC68U while upgrade in progress.

[PROGRESS_BAR]

In case the upgrade process fails, RT-AC68U enters the emergency mode automatically. The LED signals at the front of RT-AC68U will indicate such situation. Use the Firmware Restoration utility on the CD to do system recovery.

After the progress bar was finished I was finally able to enter the router administration. Strange thing is that when I hadn't executed this upgrade page I still had full Internet access. Seems like ASUS made a firmware redirect mistake.
