Hi,

I'd like to setup the ac68u to automatically route all traffic from a specific ip on my network through a vpn. Is that possible?

I'm asking this because I'm hesitating between the ac66u and ac68u and this would be the one feature that would make me decide to go with the ac68u since with it's more powerful processor the throughput when connecting through a VPN should be much faster than the ac66u

Cheers

I was interested in doing that too but it's not possible on the Asus router (except for Astrill VPN subscribers with their applet).

On a MikroTik router that would have been pretty easy.

Hmm, should be possible to modify the applet from astrill then I guess... Now just need to get it (I think I have a friend who is a customer from them)

Otherwise it seems to be possible to do it on dd wrt, but I'd really prefer to use asuswrt-merlin

You will not be able to use the app from Astrill when using Merlin's firmware unless you are a customer of Astrill and use their VPN service. Everytime you reboot the router it has to re download the app and it is linked to an account.

Perhaps if you install it you might be able to reverse engineer it.

Astrill does make an app that runs under certain versions of DD-WRT. It does have some of the features of their App for Merlin's firmware, I'm just not sure how many. I tried to install their App on a Linksys 54G flashed with DD-WRT and their App didn't run all that well because of the 54Gs limited memory and processing power.

With RouterOS (on a MikroTik router), you don't even need to bother about applets (or CLI / scripts).

You can even run multiple VPN clients (to different VPN servers) channelling pre-specified IP addresses via whichever tunnel you choose.

I've already deployed one on my secondary WAN connection at home and will most likely do the same on my primary one when RB953 is launched in a couple of months' time.
