RT-AC68U vs R

New Around Here
I'm looking to expand my wireless and was looking at the AC68. I know for the AC66 there is no real difference between the U and R, but does this also hold true for the AC68? If there is a difference, is one better than the other?
Thanks.

no difference. I believe R stands for retail, like one you get from a physical store. The other is one you get from online retailer I believe.

That's the way it is with the AC66. The R is bigbox retailers such as BestBuy, and the U is smaller retailers such as a lot of the online retailers.

I don't know if it is as true here as it is in my industry sector, but the bigbox places play hardball with the manufacturers and force them to sell at their price, so some manufacturers will make a cheaper (quality as well as price) model for the bigbox customers as opposed to their general distribution chain. (Walmart is notorious for this... one of the reasons we don't sell through them)

But not in the case for Asus 66 and 68 routers. Both are identical in every way.
