My RT-AC86U router is only showing 36, 40, 44, 48 as the control channel options for 5Ghz wifi (other than 'Auto'). I was used to be able to select Channels 153 or 157 prior to updating to the latest Merlin v386.14 fw. Is this an issue with the latest version of fw? can someone confirm the number of control chanels they see for their 5Ghz wifi with v386.14 fw?

I have total of 3 RT-AC86U in a mesh setup as access point connected to OPNSense router.

Any idea how to fix this issue? appreciate the help.

That's weird. My RT-AC86U is on Merlin 386.14 and it shows the following channel on 5GHz band:
  • 20/40/80 MHz bandwidth: Auto, 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165
  • 20 MHz bandwidth: Auto, 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165
  • 40 MHz bandwidth: Auto, 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161
  • 80 MHz bandwidth: Auto, 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161

Change the wifi region to Default, which is listed below australia.

The firmware doesn't change region settings. They are hard coded in few different places on NHD models. No one else reported this issue in firmware release thread. Something else got wrong with this router. Check System Log for unusual messages. Your US model doesn't have region in settings.

lol. no.

this issue manifested on stock firmware, and merlin.

Something must be wrong in firmware then. Does downgrading firmware restore the channel selection?
