RT-AC87R renaming issue

Mech8

New Around Here
since i installed the merlin firmware seems i cannot rename connected devices. i have a few new devices that are set to android08082XXXX etc. that i need to change to easily manage them am i missing something or does merlin just not allow this. seems stoopid for them to take it out so im guessing its just me. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Delete your wireless settings on the android devices related to your network then reconnect, got to http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_DHCP_Content.asp select the device mac address ,add a static ip and name it, click + then apply
Devices can also be renamed on the main page of the router by clicking (clients orb) then under client status click in the square with the device you want, a box will come up , there you can edit the name.

Tyvm ur a god send! I cant believe it was that easy b4 i had to change em in the qos screen. Nice

Keep in mind that the Client List page is for a description used by the webui, while the DHCP page is for a hostname allocated to the clients (for network name resolution).

Historically, both the Client List and the DHCP page were tied together, but as Asus starting developping the new Client List, the two started clashing.

Starting from 378.56, the two will be totally separate. The DHCP page will force you to specify a valid hostname, while the Client List will allow any description (including spaces in it).
