RT-AC87U - DHCP Hostnames not working

Thermo

Occasional Visitor
Hi together,

please excuse my english. I`m using a RT-AC87U with Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53.
When I configure static DHCP Leases over LAN -> DHCP-Server I dont see the hostnames I gave.
Network Map and Traffic Analyzer always shows me the Device Hostname`s.

For example:
- android-bacbdf08e3fec99a should be "CellPhone

I tried and figured out, that it works when I configure it over Network Map -> Client Profile and lock it. But I have like 20 device`s and that make`s it isn`t very comfortable.

Does somebody have an idea what I can do?

Best regards

I haven't tried setting up the leases the same way you are but I have noticed that when I use the network map and click on the lock I lose my Internet connection and connection to the router. Do you experience the same thing? Is this a known issue?

I dont`t lose the WAN-connection. The Wireless connection breaks like 10-20 seconds down.
I use the DHCP-Server config site because it`s faster. I have a text file with MAC, IP and Hostname (which I only have Copy & paste Device by Device) . So I`m faster reconfiguring it after an update.

Yeah, I think I would agree with your statement. I'm not necessarily losing Internet connection...probably more just losing connection to the router. Should that be the case? I guess I don't understand why that would happen when just toggling the lock.

The Networkmap is a headache for me because its recent feature additions directly conflict with my own. I haven't decided yet how I to deal with it, I'm starting to lean toward removing the ability to change the device name from the network map, so only the entries on the DHCP page will be in effect.

Traffic Analyzer is mostly closed-source, so not much I can do about that one.

So.. It means waiting for Bugfix? Tafficanalyzer shows me the correct names when I use the networkmap. But configuring over that site s***s ;)

Edit:
Do you have to use that site? How would it be when it would just Show the router status? Like WAN IP, connected clients( cable, wireless, vpn), Temperatur, CPU ussage.

Today I noticed I am not able to make a local name lookup. For example I have a static lease for my printer. Usually I was able to Ping printer.home. now it doesnt work.

EDIT:
When I ping i get an answer from 10.0.0.1 and not from 192.168.166.1 which my router ip is.

Make sure you don't have another DHCP server running on your LAN.

The router DHCP is the only DHCP Server In my lan.. I read last night in an old thread that the 10.0.0.1 comes when there is no WAN connection.

I solved the problem.
In the moment I dont have an active WAN connection.
To solve the problem You need to disable Administration -> System-> enable WAN down browser redirect notice

Finaly my LAN works like it should. Now I have to wait on my new WAN connection
