Hello once again!

I've searching forum about this topic but didn't find the exact same issue.

I'm facing very slow remote web interface, VERY slow (up to 30 seconds to load a page), and sometimes they do not even load and I have to refresh them in order to show up correctly.

Considerations:

*Web interface runs flawlessly when accesed locally (either wired or wireless).
*Tried both http and https protocols, both run equally slow.
*Tried disabling antivirus, accesing from windows, linux and android, all the same.
*My upload speed at home is only 0.5MB.

Is this behaviour normal or theres is something I can tweak in order to improve it?

Kindest regards and thanks in advance!

When you say remote access of the GUI, are you accessing via a vpn?
If so, and you can remotely browse the Internet via your vpn, how long do other webpages take to load?

You’ve not enabled WAN access have you?

RMerlin says:
“Personally however, I do not recommend opening even HTTPS to the WAN. Asuswrt's web server is poorly secured, and has had numerous security issues over the years. Best to limit it to LAN only, and use a VPN to remotely access it.”

@martinr => No, I access through plain internet via WAN access. I didn't set up a VPN.

@pattiri => I included that info suspecting it could be related with my issue. What I find odd is that I never had this issue with my previous routers (huawey, tp-link and netgear). Is asus gui THAT much heavier than those?

Thanks both for your interest in helping me.

Probably yes, I have 4 mbit upload speed and sometimes I feel slow when accessing IU.

@pattiri => Guess that's the cause of my issue, slow upload speed. Amazing how heavy asuswrt interface is compared to others.

@martinr => I know wan access is not the safest way, I changed access ports to custom ones in order to slightly minimize intrusion risks (before that I had almost permanent denied login attemps). I plan to set up an OpenVPN in the nearest future. Regardless, latest 87U firmware still allows http wan access, it has not migrated to 382 branch yet.

Thank you both once again!
