New Around Here
I have a network with 7 asus routers, different types. 1 is the router 6 are just access points . Now the last one added is a RT-AC87U. There are a few devices nearby (couple of meters away) and their connections constantly become available/unavailable.
I don't see anything obvious in the log file. What could cause this? The other thing is that if I reboot that router, my whole network fails until the router is up and running again. I don't think that should be happening right?
Any help appreciated.

I use to have a 87U. Its tricky when it comes to 5Ghz Quantenna Band.
I find out that on some channels it worked better and stabler than others, may be you can try swapping chanels to low 36 or high 160 and disabling beanforming and other fancy stuff to see how it reacts.
Nevertheless, I recall sometimes when it rebooted, 5Ghz wont come up and had to reboot once again. As I said, it can be tricky, at least in my experience (I loved it though).
Also, if you are using it wired, avoid using port 1 for lan, use port 2 instead (something related to board design).

Hope it helps

Your welcome. 2.4 used to be more solid than 5.0. In that case may be you can try to fix 20mhz bandwith instead of 40, and switch off all "Whistles" (MIMO, beamfoaming, airtime, etc)

Good luck!
