Ok.. here's the story. I was going to install the latest Merlin firmware to the router. For some reason it wouldn't log in to the 168....etc site saying forgot name/password. I hadn't changed them.. but still wasn't getting in so I decided to reset the router and start from scratch.. OOPS... now the router won't accept the Ethernet signal. I've rebooted many times....... router... computer... I have a cable modem... did that too.. nothing works. One tech told me to not only unplug the cable modem...but to disconnect the coaxial cable too... tried that......... same result. I can take the Ethernet cable DIRECTLY from the modem to the computer and bang.. I have internet access. So the Ethernet cable is not the problem. What am I missing? Yes I pushed the red button on the router for more that 15 sec... unplugged it for at least 30 sec... the router WAN light blinks blue while the computer (windows 10 64bit).. is doing identifying...... then it goes red and I get the No internet access result. Tried the troubleshooter in Admin mode... let the computer to a network reset reboot.. nada.
I'm at a loss. any suggestions?
thanks.
After turning the router on...off... over and over........the setup screen appeared.. managed to go online and reenter name//passwords... access the 192.168 setup page....... so its all good for now.....
