Hi All,

I've recently purchased this router and have just updated to the latest Asus firmware and think i have my system working ok for now.

I do have 1 strange thing that happens when I click from the System Log to Network Map and then back to System Log.
The web interface then seems only half load. I then refresh the page and there seems to be an error in the log - is this a concern?

As a troubleshooting step, try a different web browser and or try a web browser on a different computer or device, if you haven't done so already to see if the issue persists.

Do you have any addon scripts installed? If so which one's?

As a last resort any time one has weird issues crop up. You could record all your settings, do a hard factory reset, then manual configuration (do not import a saved router.cfg file) of the router. If a USB hard drive is attached to the router, disconnect it prior to performing a hard factory reset and only reconnect it back to the router after the router has been completely reconfigured after the hard factory reset.

Not seeing a web browser issue going from System Log --> Network Map --> System Log on a RT-AX86U Pro running Asus-Merlin 3004.388.8_2. No errors in the log indicating an issue when going to from those pages.

Thank you for the reply.

I have tried accessing from my phone and another laptop and it does it there too.
I have just noticed the crash happens when clicking between the different menu options down the left side.
Currently im using the Asus firmware, I tried merlin yesterday but was having wifi connection issues so switched back. When using merlin, I did not have this specfic issue.

I will try the hard reset later.

The Merlin firmware is a bit more stable than the Asus firmware for me. And, a factory reset with initialize is a must when switching firmware.

It happened to me too, the app and web gui stopped refreshing, whenever I go to port forwarding log page it wont load then logged me out.
It frustrating and I’m on AsusWRT not Merlin.

Is there any mention of being logged in from another device? If so then disable IPv6.

No mention but CPU 3 tainted
And I don’t have IPV6 enabled since it’s always make my connection funny.

I tried to reboot many times but doesn’t help.
Then yesterday I rebooted again and it cleared up.
Weird

Not sure if its also an issue with the stock Asus firmware but with Asus-Merlin firmware on the RT-AX86U Pro, when using a WiFi 5Ghz connected device, if I go to certain router GUI Pages (including the System Log > Port Forwarding Log page) the WiFi 5Ghz connection drops and it's up to 5 minutes before it will reconnect. It is apparently ultimately due to the use of DSF/160Ghz setting(s) in the 5Ghz wireless settings. Using a fixed channel and no DFS/160Ghz the drop is less than 30 seconds. Using an Ethernet connected device the drop happens but it's so quick its almost unnoticeable unless I'm looking for it.

Its been a head scratcher why going to certain router GUI pages trigger this issue. The system log indicates a firewall start or restart when this issue happens. Which likely causes the WiFi connection to cycle.

This sounds like the issue I am having at the moment on Asus firmware.
It does it on both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz navigating the GUI. the connection freezes and I have to login again to access and it gives the error in the log above.

no it isn't.

No mention but CPU 3 tainted

Defective core or cache pipeline, RMA.

Nothing triggers the radio to change state when browsing between configuration or logger pages, so if this does happen there is hardware corruption afoot.

Update.

I did a hard reset last night with the latest Asus firmware. After the inital setup i was able to click through all the UI menus quicly and without any crash. It wasnt until I enabled the IPv6 that it then started to crash the UI again.
At that point I thought I would try the latest merlin again and hope for better stability. Installed the firmware and again a hard reset. I setup the wifi and again no issue navigating. I then enabled the IPv6 and the UI worked without issue and my connections seem stable at the moment.

Is it possble its an issue with the latest Asus firmware?

This issue affected a couple of versions of merlins 388 and 386 firmwares ipv6 and firewall configurations but has since been fixed.

- FIXED: web server crashing when entering certain settings on
the Network Filter Page. Bypassed bug in closed source
validation code for now.

Interesting... I've never seen this "issue" with either Asus or Merlin firmware over the more than a year that I've been working with the AX86U Pro. I seem to continually "try" new firmware and settings. Am currently back to fixed non DFS channels and bandwidth. Do not use IPV6 as my ISP only offers 6RD.

A factory reset after a firmware change is more than a very good idea or suggestion!

I only started to notice it because I moved a PC from using wired LAN to using 5Ghz WiFi. First thought it was YazFi related. Posted to the YazFi discussion and had some back and forth with user Martinski on it a while back. What initially bought it up was going to the Adaptive QoS page. The log shows BWDPI: rollback fc triggering custom_script: Running /jffs/scripts/firewall-start which then cycles the WiFi clients to reconnect. Because I was using DSF/160Ghz on the 5Ghz WiFi there is a several minute delay due to the DSF negotiation (or what ever it's called) when the WiFi is cycled before the 5Ghz WiFi would come back on line.

With my 5 GHz set to 80 MHz on channel 36 I cycled through all the tabs in the router GUI using Firefox on both a Mac Mini and Debian Linux on a RPI4. The only "lag" if you want to call it that was switching to the WIFI MAC Filter tab. No error messaged in the log.

Its possible the issue I experience may be confined to the 3004.388.x firmware since I'm using Asus-Merlin 3004.388.8_2.
Part of the problem is people are not posting the firmware version they are running (either in their posts or in their sig line). So its hard to tell if its a wide spread issue across both branches or maybe confined to one branch or one firmware release. Or confined to Asus stock or Asus-Merlin.

Actually, I ran the 388.8.2 firmware for a couple of weeks with no issues. Just wanted to go back to Asus as I am having health issues, again, and want the home LAN to be simple in cast I am out of commission.
