RT-AX86U Pro limiting upload speed.

This is the third Asus router that has worked fine for the first few months before the upload speed begins to degrade. Right now I'm averaging 950 down and 20 up from speed tests on wired. Wireless is just as bad. No amount of resetting, NVRAM clearing, cable buying, or firmware shuffling has any effect. Connecting directly to my PC's NIC magically restores my full speed so I know it's the router.

ISP for this and previous routers is Windstream 1gb fiber. I am lost as to what could possibly be causing this. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

It may help if you post the specific firmware version you are having trouble with or are currently running. Also post how you have your router configured. Are you using any extra features or scripts on the router? Like AiProtection, QoS, AiCloud, AiDisk, etc. Do you have a USB drive attached to the router to use as a NAS? When you perform a hard factory reset are you manually reconfiguring or are you importing a saved router.cfg file? What is the specific broadband provider equipment that the router is connected to?

It very well could be a configuration issue on the router or between the router and broadband provider's equipment. As a datapoint, not having any speed issues with a RT-AX86U Pro running Asus-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 on a 500/500 fiber line. Router connected direct to the broadband provider's ONT. Constantly get 500/500 speeds from both the router's internal speed test and from a wired and wireless PC via speedtest.net. (Note second speed test attached done from WiFI connected laptop.)

PS: Also if you haven't done so already, use the forum search feature. If I remember right there have been one or two others who had recently reported speed issues that seemed to be due to a conflict between the Asus router and their broadband provider's hardware.

its not the router, its your isp.

I don't know if my issue is similar but I have the isp called Toob so should be 900 both ways.

When I was enabled about a month ago, I connected my ac86u pro immediately and it showed 900 up and down. The past week my upload is only showing 20 on the built in speed test. When I connect the supplied Linksys router it run 900 up and down no problem. I even daisy chained them both with same results.

When I then tried the website broadband speed checker from my wired laptop I get the full speeds on the asus.

testing from my phone on WiFi I get over 200

Is there a problem with my hardware or is it something to do with my isp and speedtest.net?

Running latest standard Asus firmware.
I tried Merlin and same outcome.

Any feedback would be appreciated

@Neilistic, Generally its best to try and test the broadband from a gigabit capable wired PC connected directly to the router. When using WiFi you could end up being limited by the WiFi if there is a issue or misconfiguration with the WiFi.
It would help if you posted more information about your setup, its specific firmware version used to test with ("latest" can fluctuate since new Asus versions just came out for many Asus routers) and configuration.

Hi.

Firmware 3.0.0.6.102_34334 but tried on the previous Asus release and also the latest Merlin.

All tests I've run are wired except 1 from my phone on WiFi which gave the upload 272mbps shown in one of the photos.
