AFAIK these are the only settings I need after changing it to PPPoE connection.
I'm using merlin 3004.388.8_2.
The WWW/WAN light on the router is white, as well as the Wifi lights, I have the www port hooked up to the port on the newly-installed yesterday openreach box, and all the lights are blinking green, ISP says connection should be good to go, the 2.5G light on the router is red but that's probably because nothing is using it yet, wifi connects but router says 'connecting to remote server now'

In the only error I can see is 'timeout waiting for PADO packet'

I don't have the HomeHub they gave me years ago at my old address because I didn't need it so just sold it on ebay for £30, all I've done is move it from one address to another now - does it need to be plugged in at least once with a homehub to 'activate' the connection here or something like that? or am I just misconfiguring it?

Was going to say you shouldn't need to ever plug in a home hub. Mine never even arrived when my connection went live, but thankfully my AX86U worked first time.

It seems that my 1G internet port is broken or something, I can only get internet if I use the 2.5G port and tell the router to use that as the primary port.

However, only my laptop seems to be able to connect via wifi which is odd. My phone connects but it says limited connection and has no WWW connection when on the router. Same as TV, girlfriends phone/laptop etc, my laptop with windows works fine on it though. Any ideas?

This is the wifi settings:

for some reason only my windows laptop can connect and get WAN, phones/anything else just gets LAN and no WAN.

That is how my RT-AX86U shows with the 2.5G port used as WAN, configured in the WAN > Dual WAN settings.
The port is framed green for being active.

This is what mine looks like:

internet works, I haven't tried anything cabled but it works fine on my windows laptop, but any phones or other devices can connect but have 'limited functionality' and no WAN. Any ideas, some setting to change on the wifi?
if I'm just using the 2.5G port for WAN,
these are my wan settings;

re; the possible broken 1G WAN port - since I only need one WAN port and the 2.5G works fine and is set as primary, doesn't matter if it's broken right?

I've no recent experience with BT internet but is it really necessary to change the WAN TTL in both directions and use a cloned MAC address?

No, I reset the router and didn't change them, can't remember why I did, but still having issues with wifi devices having no connection.
