Hi All

So I've downloaded the RT-AX86U_PRO_3004_388.8_4 firmware (I'm on RT-AX86U_PRO_3004_388.8_2 and saw there was an update available)

Running a MD5 checksum either from my portable apps, or online, doesn't give a match for the sha256sum.sha.256 value in the zip; namely

MD5 from app/online - f7aad9ac4b5b73f9bc160e55fca25b12
sha256sum.sha.256 zip file value - 67a28f4e316f070206c1616d7af270866d9aad69d08334edb864e4e0c424640a (which get's truncated as emboldened see snips).

Downloaded a few times and no different...and obviously do not want to install until they match.

Can anyone shed any light on it (probably my schoolboy error; although not sure what I am doing wrong as this has worked previously)?

Thanks in advance if anyone can suggest an answer.

If you're on Linux, run ha256sum -c sha256sum.sha256 on the files in the zip, and you will see OK. The value in sha256sum.sha256 in the zip is the same as the one on the website.

It looks like you're running an MD5 checksum, while you need to run an SHA-256 checksum instead. In fact, I've just tested both options, and I'm pretty sure that's the problem. Can you please try the SHA-256 checksum?

@inakaya, FYI there is a specific subforum for Asus-Merlin firmware discussion and issues:

The SHA-256 hash checks out fine (matches) for me.

bennor - Apologies for posting in the wrong place. I have to admit I do it a lot. Happy for this post to be deleted as think the md5 vs. sha256 must be my problem.

Fernando - Sorry for being a complete idiot and not thinking of that! I just checked and it matched.
